Valerie Simpson, 74 Years Old

The husband and wife tandem of Valerie Simpson and the late Nickolas Ashford was responsible for a couple of the tunes in our playlist. They dominated the music industry during the ‘80s and received recognition as both songwriters and producers. Ashford & Simpson’s most famous duets are “solid” and “found a cure”.

Now let’s talk more about Simpson. With her contribution to the music scene, it was only a matter of time before she received Hall of Fame status. She even got an Honorary Degree in Music from Berkeley College of Music back in 2014, which was a good addition to the mountains of accolades she already has. Simpson was also awarded an honorary doctorate in music from the Berkeley Conservatory of music. The rolling stones ranked her and her husband 19th on the list of the 20 greatest duets of all time.
