Beverly Cleary, 104 Years Old

Beverly Cleary made a name for herself as one of the most successful authors in modern American literary history. She specializes in writing children and young adult fiction books. She currently has a running record of more than 91 million copies of books sold worldwide that brought her a hefty amount of royalties. The majority of Cleary’s books are set in the Grant Park neighborhood of northeast Portland, Oregon, where she was raised, and she has been credited as one of the first authors of children’s literature to figure emotional realism in the narratives of her characters, often children in middle-class families.

She also lived a triumphant and bankruptcy-free life on account of the success she achieved in her professional career. Cleary is now more than 100 years old and we are hoping that she’ll further enjoy her retirement. After all, she deserves it– having made a huge contribution to the industry.
