Barbara Mandrell, 72 Years Old
Barbara Mandrell conquered the music scene in the 1970s and 1980s through her long series of country music hits. At the time, she also had her own variety TV show that helped her to be one of the country’s most famous and successful singer. However, after her decades-long career, in 1997, she made her final performance at the Grand Ole Opry house and bid her final goodbye from performing. But she remained a member of the Grand Ole Opry, as she always did since 1972.
With her contribution to the genre and the music world, she was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2016. Aside from a lot of credits, she also won numerous music awards from different music award shows. Mandrell’s first Billboard number-one hit was 1978’s “Sleeping Single in a Double Bed”, immediately followed by “(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don’t Want to Be Right” in early 1979. In 1980, “Years” also reached number one.
