ANTHONY HOPKINS, 83 YEARS OLD

Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins CBE is a Welsh actor, director, and film producer best known for his roles in The Lion in Winter, The Elephant Man, and Legends of the Fall. Most notably, he is lauded for his performance in The Silence of the Lambs, wherein he portrays psychotic serial murderer Hannibal Lecter. Hopkins joined Laurence Olivier’s National Theatre company in 1965, understudying Olivier himself before becoming prominent as an actor.

He was immediately dubbed the “new Olivier” after catching the critics’ attention, and during this period of acclaim, he got the iconic part of Prince Richard the Lionheart in the 1968 film adaptation of James Goldman’s play The Lion in Winter. The actor, now 83, has a variety of accolades to his name. His most prestigious award would be his knightship, which was bestowed upon him by Queen Elizabeth II in 1993 due to his service to the arts.
